ACS Midwest Regional Meeting 2024

A Women Chemists Committee luncheon was held at the ACS Midwest Regional Meeting on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, organized by Nikae Perkinson and Erin Gross. Perkinson and Gross are leaders of the newly formed WCC of the Omaha LS ACS. The event was well attended, with around 30 professionals and students. ACS Board of Directors members Lisa Balbes, Carolyn Ribes, and Jeanette Van Emon were recognized by Nikae Perkinson in her opening remarks and contributed to the inspiring discussions. Lorena Tribe, chair of the ACS Women Chemists Committee delivered remarks about WCC. The guest speaker, Dr. Lori Valentin from Radiant Journey gave a warm, interactive presentation on self-maintenance titled “Preventing and Mitigating Burnout”, with many opportunities for the attendees to reflect on their own lives and participate in the follow-up conversations. This event was supported by ACS WCC as well as the Omaha LS ACS.
