The Puget Sound Local Section WCC celebrated the 95th anniversary of WCC by hosting a recognition event for Dr Anne, McCoy, Natt-Lingafelter Professor of Chemistry (University of Washington), and the recipient of the ACS 2022 Francis P. Garvan–John M. Olin Medal. In addition to Dr McCoy’s talk, Despina Strong, a member of the national committee, gave a brief overview of the Mission, Vision and Goals of WCC. She emphasized the need for more nominations for women for local, regional, and national awards, and encouraged the participants to highlight and celebrate women’s contributions to science. The event was enjoyed by about 75 participants split almost evenly between virtual and in person. The in-person group stayed after the talk to network and enjoyed cake and cookies.
