Fall 2019 ACS Diversity Reception

On Sunday, August, 25th, the ACS Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board hosted its “Diversity Reception” in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront hotel.  This reception offers the opportunity for conferees who value diversity to meet up and network.  The reception often draws many current and former committee members from diversity related committees such as: the Committee on Chemists with Disabilities (CWD), the Younger Chemists Committee (YCC), the Committee on Minority Affairs (CMA), the Women Chemists Committee (WCC) along with many of the members of the Division on Professional Relations (PROF).  Outside of the reception area, the organizers featured research posters from students (from ACS sister societies) who have won awards for their work.  This meeting was particularly special since the ACS Board of Directors had met with the Board of Directors from the organization named the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS).  This allowed for an opportunity for student award winners from SACNAS to meet with the members of the SACNAS Board of Directors.  For more information about SACNAS, please see the website: https://www.2019sacnas.org/
