During the Fall ACS National Meeting in San Diego, the WCC Women in the Chemical Enterprise Breakfast was held early Tuesday morning, August 26, 2019. This event brought together over 50 women and men from across the chemical enterprise, including undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and chemists working in academia, industry and government. Lorena Tribe from the WCC presided, and Kim Woznack welcomed the attendees and provided an introduction to the WCC and its mission to attract, retain, develop, promote, and advocate for women to positively impact diversity, equity and inclusion in the Society and the profession. Based on feedback from past events, this one focused exclusively on networking. The attendees had an opportunity to network with each other and with special guests ACS CEO Thomas M. Connelly Jr., President Bonnie A. Charpentier, and other members of the Board of Directors. The Eli Lilly Travel Award winners, who met before breakfast for a networking event, were also in attendance. The breakfast ended with a raffle. For over 20 years, the WCC has organized the Women in the Chemical Enterprise Breakfast, a long-lasting program designed to initiate discussion on topics relevant to women in the chemical sciences.
